CHIROPRACTIC

There is a place for drugs and surgery but for over 100 years the doctors of the chiropractic profession have focused on getting people well without medicine or invasive operations. That has been my goal since beginning practice in 1982.

What is Chiropractic Healthcare? It is a system of diagnosis and treatment based on the theory that health and disease are processes influenced by the function of the spine and nervous system.  Chiropractic doctors are concerned with the diagnosis,
treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the effects of these disorders on the function of the nervous system and general health. Chiropractic doctors have traditionally called these mechanical disorders
vertebral subluxations. Other terms for these disorders include joint dysfunction and somatic dysfunction. Treatment emphasizes hands-on approaches including spinal manipulation or what we call an adjustment.

Research indicates that chiropractic adjustments improve spinal joint mobility, increase pain tolerance, release chemicals that improve blood flow to the area that is treated, release pain relieving chemicals and decrease circulating inflammatory chemicals, all without the side-effects of medications. In a sense, chiropractic adjustments fill prescriptions from the pharmacist in your body.

Chiropractic treatment almost always includes exercises for flexibility, strength and stability and often includes other hands-on approaches such as myofascial release. In order to properly manage chronic and disabling pain, attention may also need to be paid to a Diet for Pain and Inflammation as well as stress management and even sleep patterns.

I know that no single approach is successful for all people and all problems. I work with each patient to find the best solution or combination of solutions to reach the goal of improved health.
